Moving in Vaudreuil-Soulanges
Vaudreuil-Soulanges sits just west of the island of Montreal, between the Lac des Deux Montagnes, the Lac Saint-Louis and the Ottawa River. It has grown quickly — especially Vaudreuil-Dorion — and it combines new family neighbourhoods, historic villages, island communities and country properties. For a moving company, that variety is the whole story: a Vaudreuil-Dorion townhouse, a Hudson heritage home and a Saint-Lazare property with a barn are very different moves.
We move homes across Vaudreuil-Soulanges at the same hourly rate we charge in Montreal; travel time depends on the address. Our crews reach Vaudreuil-Dorion in about thirty-five minutes from our base in Verdun.
Communities we serve
Vaudreuil-Dorion
The largest city in the region, with new residential neighbourhoods of houses, townhouses and condos, a commercial centre along Highway 40 and older sectors near the lake. Moves here are usually straightforward on access and heavy on volume — family homes with basements and garages.
Île-Perrot, Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot, Pincourt and Terrasse-Vaudreuil
The communities on Île Perrot, between the island of Montreal and Vaudreuil, are reached by Highway 20. They have bungalows, split-levels, waterfront homes and quiet residential streets. Terrasse-Vaudreuil is a small island community with narrow streets where we check access in advance.
Saint-Lazare
Known for its equestrian properties and wooded lots, Saint-Lazare has many large homes on big lots, often with long driveways, outbuildings and barns. We plan these moves carefully: the length, slope and surface of the driveway decide which truck we send, and in spring we may need to load from the road.
Hudson
A historic village on the Ottawa River with older homes, antiques and a strong English-speaking community. Heritage houses often have narrow stairs and fragile finishes, and many have pianos and art; our luxury and estate and piano moving services are often part of Hudson moves.
Les Cèdres, Pointe-des-Cascades, Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac and L’Île-Cadieux
Smaller communities along the water and the Soulanges Canal, with houses on large lots and waterfront properties. Some are reached by narrow roads; we plan the truck accordingly.
Getting to Vaudreuil-Soulanges
Two highways connect the region to Montreal. Highway 20 crosses Île Perrot and its bridges. Highway 40 crosses the Ottawa River on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, which has been under long-term repair and replacement work, with lane restrictions at times. We choose the route based on the addresses, the time of day and the current state of both crossings, and we schedule early starts to avoid the rush-hour traffic toward the island.
What a Vaudreuil-Soulanges move costs
Most of Vaudreuil-Soulanges is houses on larger lots, and rural properties in Saint-Lazare and Hudson often have long driveways: plan on three or four movers and the 34-foot truck, at $180 or $220 an hour. Townhouses and condos in Vaudreuil-Dorion are usually two or three movers with the 22-foot truck, at $120 or $160. Île-Perrot and Pincourt are much closer to our base than Rigaud or Saint-Zotique, so travel time depends on the address and is set in your estimate, at the same hourly rate. The minimum is 2 hours of work. There is no out-of-town surcharge and no fee for stairs, weekends or fuel.
| Move | Crew | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Condo or townhouse in Vaudreuil-Dorion | 3 movers | 5–8 hours |
| Bungalow on Île-Perrot, 3 bedrooms | 3–4 movers | 6–9 hours |
| Country house in Saint-Lazare or Hudson | 4 movers | 8–12 hours, sometimes two trucks |
Country properties: what to tell us
Large lots and rural homes are where a good estimate matters most. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- The driveway: length, slope, surface (paved, gravel, earth) and whether a large truck can turn around.
- Outbuildings: barns, workshops, garden sheds and what is in them.
- Equipment: tractors, snow blowers, lawn mowers, trailers — which ones move and which stay.
- Special items: pianos, safes, gym equipment, antiques and art.
- The season: in spring thaw, unpaved driveways can be too soft for a loaded truck.
With that information we can send the right truck, the right crew and, when needed, a smaller truck to shuttle between the house and the main truck at the road.
Moving between Vaudreuil-Soulanges and the island
Many Vaudreuil-Soulanges moves come from the West Island or Montreal: families moving from Pointe-Claire to Vaudreuil-Dorion for a bigger house, retirees moving from Saint-Lazare to a condo in the West Island, commuters moving closer to the train line. These are local moves at the same hourly rate. If one end of the move is in Montreal, see our Montreal page for borough parking permits and walk-ups.
Moving further west
Beyond Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the road leads to Ontario: Hawkesbury, Cornwall and Ottawa. Moves across the provincial border are priced as one fixed amount; see interprovincial moving.
Preparing for your move
- Describe the access at both addresses when you ask for your quote.
- Clear the driveway and make room for the truck to turn around.
- Drain fuel from equipment and leave propane tanks behind.
- Plan storage if your closing dates do not line up — our storage service keeps everything until the new home is ready.

Moving to Vaudreuil-Dorion from the island
Vaudreuil-Dorion is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Montreal region, and many of our moves there come from the West Island, Laval or the city itself. Buyers of new houses and townhouses in Vaudreuil-Dorion’s newer sectors often move in while the neighbourhood is still being built, which can mean unfinished streets and construction traffic. We check access in advance and plan the truck’s route and parking accordingly.
Timing around the bridges
The two routes onto the island — Highway 20 across Île Perrot and Highway 40 on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge — decide how long the drive takes, especially at rush hour. When a move goes between Vaudreuil-Soulanges and the island, we avoid scheduling the crossing during the morning rush toward Montreal and the evening rush back, and we check for lane closures on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge the day before. The drive is billed as travel time; the hourly clock starts at your door.
Horses, barns and outbuildings
Saint-Lazare, Hudson and parts of Les Cèdres have many hobby farms and equestrian properties. Barns, tack rooms and workshops are often full of equipment that is not part of a normal household inventory: saddles and tack, tools, feed bins, fencing materials, trailers. We can move tack, tools and workshop contents like any other goods, packed and inventoried. Livestock, hay and feed, fuel and chemicals are not moved in our trucks. Tractors and trailers can sometimes be moved with the right equipment; ask us early so we can plan it or recommend a specialist.
Hudson heritage homes
Hudson’s older homes — some more than a century old — have narrow staircases, low doorways, original floors and fragile plaster. We protect floors and walls throughout, measure large furniture against doorways and stair turns before moving it, and take extra care with antiques and art, often packed as described on our fine art and antique moving page.
Moving within Vaudreuil-Soulanges
Many moves stay within the region: from a townhouse in Vaudreuil-Dorion to a house in Saint-Lazare, from Pincourt to Île-Perrot, from a Hudson house to a condo in Vaudreuil. These are short local moves at the same hourly rate, often finished in a single day even for a full house.
Part of the same service area
Vaudreuil-Soulanges is part of our local service area together with the West Island, Montreal, Laval and both shores. Moves further west, beyond Vaudreuil-Soulanges — to Hawkesbury or Ottawa — are quoted as a fixed price; see long-distance moving.
Moving to Vaudreuil-Soulanges from off-island
Some customers come to Vaudreuil-Soulanges from Laval, the North Shore or the South Shore rather than from the island. These moves cross the whole metropolitan area, and we plan the route and the timing so the truck is not stuck in two rush hours in one day. They remain local moves at the same hourly rate.
What Vaudreuil-Soulanges customers book most
The most common jobs are family house moves in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Pincourt and Île-Perrot, larger country-property moves in Saint-Lazare and Hudson, and moves between the region and the West Island. Customers often add packing, storage between closing dates, and piano or antique moving for older Hudson homes.
Winter and spring on country properties
Rural properties change with the seasons. In winter, long driveways must be ploughed wide enough for a truck and the turnaround cleared; in spring, the thaw can make gravel and earth driveways too soft for a loaded truck. For moves between March and May, we check the driveway’s condition a few days before and, if needed, park at the road and shuttle with a smaller truck. That plan goes into the quote, so there is no surprise on the day.
Waterfront homes
Homes along the Lac des Deux Montagnes, the Ottawa River and the Lac Saint-Louis often have docks, boathouses and outdoor furniture to plan for, and sometimes a steep slope between the road and the house. Tell us what moves from the water side — kayaks, outdoor furniture, dock equipment — and we will include it in the inventory.
