Terms of service

The terms of a Simplex move in plain language: how estimates and fixed prices work, what we commit to, what we ask of you, and how payment works.

Last updated 2026-09-28

The estimate

Local moves are estimated as an hourly rate and a range of hours; the final price is the hours actually worked, with a two-hour minimum of work and travel time billed at the same hourly rate (one hour on the island of Montreal, in Laval and on the South Shore). Long-distance moves are quoted as a fixed price, based on the inventory you gave us. If the inventory changes significantly, the price is adjusted in writing before loading.

What we commit to

  • A crew on our payroll, in our truck — never a subcontractor
  • Blankets, straps and floor protection on every move
  • Arrival inside the agreed window, or a call before it is missed
  • Cargo insurance on everything we transport

What we ask of you

  • Boxes packed and closed before the crew arrives, unless we are packing
  • Access at both addresses: elevator booked, a place for the truck
  • Valuables, cash, documents and medication kept with you
  • Someone present at both addresses to direct the crew

Payment

Local moves are paid at the end of the move. Long-distance moves require a deposit at booking, with the balance due on delivery. The accepted payment methods are listed on the estimate.
