Moving from Montreal to anywhere in Quebec

Quebec is large. Quebec City is two and a half hours from Montreal; Saguenay is almost five; Gaspé and Sept-Îles are a long day’s drive and more. A move across the province is not a local move with a longer drive — it needs a different plan, a different truck schedule and a different way of pricing. That is why every move from Montreal to another region of Quebec is quoted as one fixed price, based on your inventory and the distance, with the delivery date agreed in writing.

We move households, students, retirees and businesses from Montreal to every region of Quebec, and back to Montreal from those regions.

Gaspéabout 930 km10–11 hours2–3 days
Sept-Îlesabout 900 km10–11 hours2–3 days

Distances are by road and approximate; driving times are for a car, and a loaded truck takes a little longer. Delivery times are for a dedicated truck. A shared trailer delivers inside a window of several days and costs roughly 30% less.

How the price is set

The starting prices above are for a one-bedroom apartment with a dedicated truck. Quebec City, Gatineau, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Drummondville and the Laurentians fall in the under-300 km band; Saguenay and Rimouski in the 300–700 km band; Gaspé and Sept-Îles in the 700–1,500 km band. A two- or three-bedroom home usually costs about 1.6 times the one-bedroom price, and a house about two and a half times.

Your actual price depends on what you are moving. A short video call is enough for most apartments: you walk through each room, we list the furniture and estimate the boxes, and you receive a fixed price in writing. The price includes loading, transport, fuel, tolls, unloading, furniture protection, disassembly and reassembly and cargo insurance.

Montreal to Quebec City

The Montreal–Quebec City corridor along Highway 20 or 40 connects the province’s two largest cities. Students heading to Université Laval, public servants joining the provincial government, families returning to the Capitale-Nationale — the reasons vary, but the logistics are the same. We load in the morning, drive in the afternoon and usually deliver the same evening or first thing the next morning. In Quebec City, older neighbourhoods such as Saint-Roch, Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Limoilou have narrow streets and exterior staircases much like the Plateau; we plan the truck position and crew size accordingly.

Montreal to Gatineau

Gatineau is a frequent destination for people working in the federal public service on either side of the river. The drive along Highway 50 or through Ontario on the 417 takes two to two and a half hours. We usually deliver the same day. If you are actually moving to Ottawa rather than Gatineau, your move crosses a provincial border — the price and process are the same, and the details are on our interprovincial moving page.

Montreal to Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships

Sherbrooke, Magog, Granby and the rest of the Eastern Townships are close enough that many moves are finished in a single long day. Rural properties with long driveways and cottages on the lakes can have access challenges — a steep driveway, a narrow road, a soft lawn in spring. Tell us about them during the survey and we will plan the right truck.

Montreal to Trois-Rivières and the Mauricie

Trois-Rivières sits halfway between Montreal and Quebec City on Highway 40. Moves there are usually loaded and delivered the same day. Shawinigan and the rest of the Mauricie are only a little further.

Montreal to Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean

Saguenay is about five hours north through the Laurentides wildlife reserve on Route 175 from Quebec City. In winter the route can be affected by weather, and we plan delivery windows with that in mind. Moves to Chicoutimi, Jonquière, La Baie and Alma are usually delivered the day after loading.

Montreal to the Lower St. Lawrence, the Gaspé Peninsula and the North Shore

Rimouski, Matane, Gaspé, Baie-Comeau and Sept-Îles are long routes along the St. Lawrence. For these moves we either run a dedicated trip or combine your shipment with other deliveries heading east, which lowers the price if your dates allow. Delivery windows are agreed in writing and we keep you informed while the truck is on the road.

Other Quebec destinations

We also move to Drummondville, Saint-Hyacinthe, Joliette, Saint-Jérôme, Mont-Tremblant, Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d’Or and anywhere else in Quebec. If your town is not listed here, ask — we will tell you the price band, the typical delivery time and whether a shared trailer is running in that direction.

Preparing for a move within Quebec

  1. Get your inventory right. The fixed price is based on it. Include the basement, the garage and the balcony furniture.
  2. Decide on dedicated or shared. If you need your furniture on a specific day, choose a dedicated truck. If you can wait a few days, a shared trailer saves roughly 30%.
  3. Pack early or add packing. Long-distance boxes must be packed well and closed; if you prefer not to pack, our packing services can do it the day before loading.
  4. Update your addresses. When you move within Quebec, update your address with the SAAQ, Revenu Québec and the RAMQ, set up mail forwarding with Canada Post and transfer your Hydro-Québec account.
  5. Plan the first night. Keep a bag with clothes, medication, documents, chargers and bedding with you, not on the truck.

Moving to Montreal from elsewhere in Quebec

We move in both directions. If you are coming to Montreal from Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Gatineau or anywhere else in the province, we pick up at your current home and deliver to your new one on the island, in Laval or on either shore, with the same fixed-price model and the same crew care. Our crews know Montreal’s parking permits, walk-ups and condo buildings well — see the service areas page for where we work every day.

When is the best time to move within Quebec?

The busiest period by far is the end of June and the first days of July, when leases change across the province. Trucks, crews and even rental vans are scarce, and every route is in demand. If you can, move in May, August, September or October: dates are easier to get, shared trailers fill faster in your direction and prices on shared routes are easier to plan. Winter moves are perfectly possible, but we plan routes around the weather, especially toward Saguenay, the Gaspé and the North Shore, and we tell you in advance if a storm may shift a delivery date.

Students and young professionals

Students heading to Université Laval, the Université de Sherbrooke or cégeps across the province, and young professionals starting a first job in Quebec City or Gatineau, usually move a bedroom or a studio. These small moves suit a shared trailer or a small shipment: you pay for the space your belongings take, not a full truck. Residences often have strict move-in hours; tell us the time slot and we plan the delivery around it.

Moving a business within Quebec

Offices and businesses moving between Quebec cities — a regional office opening in Quebec City, a clinic relocating to Sherbrooke — follow our commercial moving process with a fixed long-distance price. The site visit, labelling and after-hours scheduling work the same way over a longer distance.

Before you choose a mover for a Quebec move

Ask whether the price is fixed or an estimate that can change after loading, whether the company owns the truck or passes the job to a carrier, and what the delivery date or window is in writing. Our answers: a fixed price, our own truck and crew, and a date or window written into the quote.

Moving to a cottage or a rural property in Quebec

Many moves within Quebec end at a cottage in the Laurentians, a house in the Eastern Townships or a property on a lake. These homes often come with access questions a city move never has: a gravel road, a steep or long driveway, a bridge with a weight limit, a lawn that is soft in spring, or a steep path from the road to the door. Tell us about access when you ask for the quote — a photo of the driveway is enough. When a large truck cannot reach the house, we use a smaller truck to shuttle between the road and the door, and we plan the time for it in the price.
